From doing research into the different types of websites belonging to films from various genres, I have found that they each include similar and different conventions to one another. Firstly, I noticed that all three websites had their own colour scheme in reference to their genre, for example Spider-Man included blues and reds, Hereditary included low saturated colours such as blacks and browns and Mamma Mia included bright summery colours such as different shades of blues. These colour schemes also help their audiences to become familiar with the film's aesthetics. Following on from this, all three websites also had the title of the film on the home page within the biggest font which is usually the same font used on every product to promote the film, and also included the trailer for the film. Both the Hereditary website and Mamma Mia website included a synopsis to give a brief overview of the film's narrative. As well as this, the Spider Man website and Mamma Mia website included advertisements for their previous films on DVD.
--> The main image here is of one of the character's most likely to be the protagonist. --> The protagonist is shown here using a close up shot. The use of this shot makes the character seem close towards the audience. Implying that during the film the audience will become closer to the character and is likely to sympathise for them. --> Dull/dark colours (black, white, grey) --> Use of red, could represent blood within the film and a sense of violence. --> Black background, makes the writing and picture on the poster stand out. --> Movie title (san serif, biggest writing, most bold), indication of genre - located at the bottom to allow focus on the image. --> Credits located at the bottom. --> Tagline - gives away a bit of the storyline. --> Cinema release month. --> Social media links.
